The longest range private jets ranked by published nautical miles

The longest range private jet in service is the Gulfstream G800, at a published 8,200 nautical miles. The Bombardier Global 8000 follows at 8,000 nm. Both figures come with conditions attached, and on a real mission with real winds and a full cabin, neither aircraft flies anything close to its headline number.

How private jet range is actually measured

Published range is a standardized laboratory figure, not a promise about your trip. Every manufacturer on this list quotes range under the same four assumptions, and all four are optimistic.

  • Long-range cruise speed. Range is quoted at the slowest efficient cruise, usually Mach 0.85. Fly faster and the number drops.
  • Eight passengers and four crew. Bombardier footnotes its 8,000 nm Global 8000 figure with exactly that load. A full 19-seat cabin is a different aircraft.
  • NBAA IFR reserves. The National Business Aviation Association reserve profile adds fuel for a missed approach, a climb, a diversion to an alternate airport, and 30 minutes of holding.
  • Still air, standard temperature. Zero wind. No jet stream. No hot-day performance penalty.

Change any one of those and the range changes. Change all four at once, which every real flight does, and the gap becomes large enough to strand a trip that looked comfortable on paper.

1. Gulfstream G800 — 8,200 nm

The G800 took the range title in April 2025 when the FAA and EASA certified it. The certified figure came in 200 nm above Gulfstream’s original projection, and the maximum operating speed rose from Mach 0.925 to Mach 0.935 at the same time.

Gulfstream publishes three points on the curve rather than one, which is more useful than a single headline: 8,200 nm at Mach 0.85, 8,000 nm at Mach 0.87, and 7,000 nm at Mach 0.90. The cabin is 46 ft 10 in long and seats up to 19, sleeping up to 10.

2. Bombardier Global 8000 — 8,000 nm

The Global 8000 gives up 200 nm to the G800 and takes back the speed title, at Mach 0.95. Its cabin is the trade that matters more than either number: 54 ft 5 in long across four true living zones, against the G800’s 46 ft 10 in.

Bombardier also publishes the industry’s lowest cabin altitude at 2,691 feet while cruising at 41,000 feet. On a 14-hour leg, cabin pressure affects how you arrive more than 200 nm of range does.

3. Gulfstream G700 — 7,750 nm

The G700 is the G800’s long-cabin sibling on the same wing and the same Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines. It trades 450 nm of range for ten extra feet of cabin, at 56 ft 11 in — the longest cabin Gulfstream builds.

4. Bombardier Global 7500 — 7,700 nm

The Global 7500 shares the Global 8000’s fuselage and four-zone cabin with a lower speed rating of Mach 0.925. It has been delivering since 2018, so unlike the aircraft above it, there is a real fleet available to charter and a real resale market.

5 (tie). Gulfstream G650ER — 7,500 nm

The G650ER defined this category and is still the aircraft most likely to be available when you actually need it. Gulfstream publishes 7,500 nm at Mach 0.85 and 6,400 nm at Mach 0.90.

5 (tie). Dassault Falcon 10X — 7,500 nm

Dassault’s Falcon 10X is rated at 7,500 nm and Mach 0.925, with the largest cabin cross-section of any purpose-built business jet at 80 inches tall and 109 inches wide. It has not entered service, so treat its position on this list as provisional.

7. Gulfstream G650 — 7,000 nm

The standard G650 is the ER’s shorter-legged sibling at 7,000 nm. That is still enough for New York to Hong Kong in still air, and the pre-owned market for these aircraft is far deeper than for anything above it on this list.

8. Gulfstream G600 — 6,600 nm

The G600 is the practical entry point to genuinely intercontinental range. Gulfstream publishes 6,600 nm at Mach 0.85 and 5,600 nm at Mach 0.90, with a 45 ft 2 in cabin.

9. Dassault Falcon 8X — 6,450 nm

The three-engine 8X trades outright range for airfield access. It operates into short, steep, restricted runways — London City, Aspen, Lugano — that the Gulfstreams and Globals above it cannot use, which on some missions makes it the aircraft that gets closest to your destination.

Headline range versus usable range

This is the section every ranking skips, and it is the one that decides whether your trip is nonstop. We ran the arithmetic on the G800’s 8,200 nm figure, stripping one assumption at a time.

Start: 8,200 nm at Mach 0.85, which is about 488 knots true airspeed at cruise altitude. That is 16.8 hours of airborne endurance.

Add a headwind. A 60-knot average headwind — routine westbound across the North Atlantic or the Pacific — drops ground speed to 428 knots. Same 16.8 hours, but only 7,190 nm covered. The wind alone costs 1,010 nm, or 12%.

Add speed. Flying at Mach 0.90 instead cuts still-air range to 7,000 nm. Into that same 60-knot headwind, the aircraft covers about 6,190 nm over the ground.

Add passengers. Published range assumes eight passengers. At maximum takeoff weight, every additional pound of people and baggage displaces a pound of fuel. Filling the remaining seats can cost several hundred nautical miles more.

So the same aircraft is an 8,200 nm jet in the brochure and a roughly 6,200 nm jet on a fast, full, into-the-wind westbound leg. That is a 25% gap, and it is entirely predictable — which is why an experienced charter broker asks about your passenger count and departure date before quoting a nonstop.

The gap runs the other way too. With a 60-knot tailwind, the same G800 covers about 9,200 nm over the ground, which is more than any published figure on this page.

What each range figure actually connects

Range only matters as a list of city pairs. These are approximate great-circle distances, before any wind.

Two of those rows deserve a note. New York to Singapore sits right at the published limit of the two longest-range aircraft flying, which means it is a nonstop only on a favorable day with a light cabin.

And London to Sydney is beyond every business jet in production. Any operator quoting it nonstop is quoting a fuel stop they have not mentioned yet.

Where the ranking is genuinely contested

Positions 1 and 2 are closer than the numbers suggest, and reasonable buyers rank them differently.

The G800 wins on published nautical miles by 200 nm — about 2.5%, or well inside the margin that a single day’s winds moves. The Global 8000 wins on cabin length by more than seven feet, on top speed, and on cabin altitude.

Positions 5 and 6 are contested for a different reason. The Falcon 10X carries a published 7,500 nm figure but has not entered service, and specification figures for unflown aircraft have moved before — the G800’s own numbers changed between projection and certification, in that case upward.

Our view: rank aircraft that are flying separately from aircraft that are not, and rank both separately from aircraft you can actually charter. On that last test, the G650ER and Global 7500 beat everything above them, because a 7,500 nm jet you can book on Thursday outperforms an 8,200 nm jet with a two-year order book.

Choosing on range instead of headlines

Work backwards from your longest recurring route, not from the top of the table. Add 10% to the great-circle distance for routing and 12% for a typical headwind, then find the first aircraft whose long-range-cruise figure clears that total.

If the answer is a G650ER rather than a G800, you have saved a great deal of money and lost nothing. If your longest route is a once-a-year outlier, a single planned fuel stop is cheaper than buying 1,000 nm of range you use once. For anything under 3,000 nm, look at empty leg flights before you look at range at all.
